Evangelist and Teacher를 낸 적이 있다. 이 책의 탈고를 한 시점이 2005년이라고 하니, 근 15년 만에 새로이 1233쪽 
(lxiv +1169)에 걸친 방대한 주석을 썼으며, 마태복음에 관한한 규모면에서 가장 최신의 것에 해당한다. (아쉬운 점은 Nolland의 
NIGTC 마태복음 주석과 비슷한 시기에 나오면서 (2005년도 출간) 서로 interact를 하지 못했다는 점이다.) 요즘 보통 
주석을 쓰는 학자들은 두 가지로 부류로 나뉜다. 본문 주석에 있어서 문제점들, 쟁점들에 대해서 주변의 학자들의 견해와 시대의 해석 조류와 
민감하게 interaction하는 주석가와 또 한 부류는 고전적, 전통적 방법으로 본문에 집중하여, 본문의 뜻을 풀어내려고 하는 주석가. 후자의 
주석 방법이 올바른 방법이 잘 되기만 하면 좋지만, 주석가의 연륜이 짧거나 권위가 부족하면, 학계에서 무시당하기 십상일 것이다. 그런 점에서 
R. T. France 급이 된다면, 이렇게 다른 마태복음 주석가들과 interaction하는데 시간을 많이 보내지 않고 본문의 뜻에 조명을 
해주기만 해도 별 문제가 없고, 오히려 본문을 더 명확하게 이해할 수 있기 때문에 큰 도움이 된다. 저자는 "commentary on 
commentaries"를 안 쓰도록 노력했다고 하는데, 이는 요즘 같은 시대에 굉장히 고무적인 일이다. 그래서 이미 1200쪽이나 되지만 
그래도 그보다 분량이 더 늘어나지 않으면서 갈릴리의 한 예연자가 자신을 예루살렘에서 메시야라고 주장하는 1세기 팔레스타인의 문화적 역사적 정황과
